We recently found out our daughter McKenzie has DiGeorge Syndrome. we did not find out until she was 2 months old and had gotten her first set of shots. she ended up becoming extremely sick and we took her into the hospital. this is when they did a series of tests and found out what she had. I have been trying to find blogs on just information and stories and support with this situation. I am very scared and hope that she can live a long life. As far as we know she does not have any heart defects she just does not have the hypothyroid gland that produces calcium. If anyone can just contact me that would be great I have a million questions and doctors arent always available 24/7.

Hi, My 4 yr old son is a TOF baby too. He had a BT shunt at 13 days old..the final repair at 6 mths old & then they replaced the collapsing valve with a pig valve at 2..Hes 4 now & after a cath last month, they are going to have to do another open heart surgery because the valve needs replaced & a stitch for the pig valve came loose & started a "blood aneurysm" if you will. Im Soo scared. Hes going to shands in Gville Fl. now after always going to wolfons in jax fl. I have always been told the operations were common...& this time the Dr. said its a RARE operation. So rare that hes only done it one other time. Im hoping someone on here has gone through a similar situation & knows what im talking about! Extra reassurance is always helpful. Please keep him in your prayers. Hes an amazingly sweet child. Im sorry to hear that the guy with the tat passed away. I am inlove with tattoos..Im getting a mended lil heart symbol & maybe when hes a big man, mommy will let him get a zipper..he would get a kick out of that ;) God Bless all our TOF families.

Hey this is awesome! I had TOF repaired as a child too, but I've always been told patients of the disorder should never get tattoos or piercings because of the increased infection risk! I've always thought it to be a little over-cautious, and now I'm wondering if it would really make that much difference at all...
I love the tattoo! Big up the TOF massive!

such a great entry into the blog
I love reading about your family and how Sophia is doing in school
I talk to you everyday but reading these blogs makes me fell so happy
Glad you are keeping everyone informed of Sophia's progress
Though I am sad at your returning to work I am sure all will work out for the best
I will be there for you whenever I can

We're so happy 2009 brought us to you and your family- I'm not sure what we would have done without your support and insight for our family. We look forward to continuing our friendship and watching you all grow with the new year!
