I just wrote a long post with a whole recap of our vacation. Unfortunately, Sophia got a hold of the mouse and deleted the whole thing. So this is my second attempt. I am not going to attempt the recap again. But, I had to redo the thank yous.
Thanks to my Mom and Bob who paid for our round-trip air fare, bought us many meals and provided transportation not just around Anna Maria but half way across Florida. Thanks for loaning us the car to visit Mote Aquarium in Sarasota. And thanks for sharing your vacation home with us. It was a great experience and we really loved your company. What a beautiful place Anna Maria Island is.
Thanks to Christa (Patty’s best friend from college) and her husband Frank for all their unwavering hospitality. Thanks to Christa for helping us get to the east coast of Florida by meeting us in the middle of the state and driving us to your home. Thanks for all the meals and for sharing your wonderful condo in Orlando with us. It was such a beautiful stay and it wouldn’t have been possible without your generosity.
Thanks to Maya(5) and Emily(3). You two are the brightest and most vibrant little girls I know. I am sure your parents must be very proud. And although I wanted to run from the restaurant screaming the first time we all had dinner together, I am now better tempered for the challenges parenting has in store. And as the week progressed, I became more and more comfortable with the situation. You are both lovely.
Thanks to Vicki and Robbie (Christa’s sister and brother-in-law) for sharing passes to such a magical place. You were both great guides and thanks to you Sophia will have wonderful memories to get her through the rough patches she still has to face.
And huge thank yous to Angela and John. You both made it possible for us to leave home without worry. If it wasn’t for you both taking time out of your busy days to take care of Quincy (dog) and Koko and Rayman (cats) we would never have been able to give Sophia such great memories. Thanks for making extra effort by spending time at the house and taking Quincy on walks. We are so grateful to have friends like you both.
Thanks to Patty’s parents, Mike and Susan. Obviously we would not have made it far if not for your taxiing us to and from the KCI airport.
It is so moving for us to realize how many people care about our little family. So many extended themselves to such astounding degrees just for us. I think Patty and I both had a teary moment while at Disney’s Magic Kingdom riding the Peter Pan ride. There is this part where you fly in a little ship over a city at night which seems to be far below. We both looked at Sophia’s face and her joy was so profound. And it was because of the love and generosity of our friends and family that she was able to feel that bliss.
It was a very similar experience for me the first time Sophia saw the ocean. She was so happy. So happy.
Thanks to everyone that made this all possible. We love you all.

We are so happy you could join us for a wonderful family vacation.
Our time together was priceless.
Everyone relaxed and relieved some of that everyday stress.
The happiness and excitement Sophia showed with seeing the ocean for the first time was so wonderful. She is such a joy.
I wouldn’t trade these memories for a million dollars.
